The projective discriminant is the dual variety to a projective space 
embedded into a larger one by a Veronese embedding.
Using braid monodromy techniques we obtain a presentation for
the fundamental group of the complement.
These are also the fundamental groups of generic plane sections, which are 
complements of curves with only cusps and nodes of arbitrarily high degree.
