In this paper we are going to study several aspects of the module of polynomial derivations of a polynomial. We start by stating the basic features of module theory in order to understand which kind of object we are working with. Afterwards, we explore some of the difficulties this kind of object presents with respect to others similar to it such as the vector space, in particular the determination of whether an element belongs to it and the existence of a basis. We solve the first of those problems by introducing two fundamental tools in this theory: \Groebner{} bases and syzygies. Lastly, so as to solve the second problem, we give a detailed proof of Saito's Criterion, a result that characterizes which modules admit a basis.
